* Bug Removal with Dryer Sheets *

Bugs often make a mess of the front of a motorhome or trailer while traveling, and we have all read about all kinds of miracle cures and/or removal formulas for the bug splats. I want to show you the results of one of those miracle removal techniques -- using a wet "dryer sheet" normally intended for preventing static cling in your clothing.

I used wet dryer sheets in a bucket of water & liquid car wash/wax to clean the bug guts off the front of my motorhome a dozen times or so. They certainly cleaned the bugs off with relatively little hard scrubbing. But eventually I began to notice the marks the dryer sheets were leaving in the 3M Vinyl shield on the front of the motorhome. Take at look at the pictures below. Although these photos are not great, they do show you a bit of the damage caused by using the wet dryer sheets.

I no longer use wet dryer sheets to clean bugs off the front my motorhome! Based on my experience, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST using wet dryer sheets to remove bug guts from any surface that has 3M Vinyl mask or anything similar. And since the 3M Vinyl has a thin coat of automotive ClearCoat on it, I would not recommend it for ANY painted surface that is coated wtih ClearCoat!
