[Check out Xena's 5-generation pedigree]
Sorry, Netscape can't seem to handle the 5-generation version,
so here's Xena's 4-generation pedigree for you Netscape users
Xena, Warrior Princess died Nov 19, 2011 at the age of 14 yrs and 3 months. She had been on two seizure medications, medication for an enlarged heart, cough meds, and a couple of other meds for several years. She began rapidly going downhill in the severe heat in July as she got arthritis to the point her legs did not bend well. She had increasing difficulty with stairs, and sometimes her balance. She had lost probably 5 of her 12-14 lbs in the past six months, but was still eating & drinking well. It hurt to watch her struggle sometimes, and we had grown used to carrying her up and down stairs. Shortly after a two-day drive to our son's home for a Thanksgiving visit, she was doing a lot of pacing as normal as she "shopped" the family for attention and ear rubs. While we were eating, she collapsed and was gone in just a few minutes. Xena brought a lot of joy over the years, and will be deeply missed.
Xena joined us in October 1997, coming from May-Fam Maltese of Ridegway, Ohio. After the last child left home I needed a friend in my corner to help in the stand-off against the C*ts. (Really I was hoping to find a defender and protector for MY chair -- a cat deflector -- that would also be small enough to snuggle in beside me on those cold Ohio evenings.) I have lived with a variety of dogs in my past, from mutts to a Pekineese to a Cocker-Poo (she was sold to the C*t Person for my birthday as a "pure bred Toy Poodle") to a very large German Shepherd. Xena is the first Maltese to live with us. And if you saw her play you would understand how she earned the name, "Xena: Warrior Princess," running full-speed through the house, cavorting, twisting, turning and nearly turning flips. And as her father was "White Warrior," she is truly a warrior princess! (By the way, the C*t Person selected this name for her, honest!) .
